‚leaena‘ Hetaira et ‚scylla‘ Fellatrix Einige weitere Bemerkungen zum Verständnis der Metaphern in Catull Carmen 60
Boris Hogenmüller
Abstract
Catullus’ poem carm. 60 is generally considered a short mocking poem on Lesbia. Therein, Catullus, by means of a re-interpretation of two classical metaphors, succeeds in defaming his puella as daughter of a prostitute. At the same time, however, Catullus makes use of a witty and implicit allusion in order to formulate an appreciation of the Hellenistic poet Callimachus.
